Welcome to the Lewes Chamber Music Festival!
2015 FESTIVAL 12-14th JUNE
Lewes Chamber Music Festival is a Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation in England and Wales No. 1151928
We have had some wonderful feedback following our previous Festival weekends…
Let me try to put in words what was so wonderful [about LCMF]:
- the adventurous programming, with works that were new to us. I would never have guessed that highlights for me would turn out to be the Catoire Quintet, and Kate Whitley’s playing of the Berg sonata!
- the wide variety of musicians, from youngsters to established international figures.
- above all, the atmosphere: nothing pretentious – everyone just there because of the joy of making, and listening to, music together. A.P – audience member
Congratulations of a truly memorable festival. The Faure that ended the Festival was spectacular and the Beethoven trio right at the start was equally world class. What a privilege is has been to hear music making of such an amazing standard in Lewes. And such adventurous and stimulating programmes too. N.C – audience member
The Firle concert was great. I especially enjoyed the playing and staging of the Bartok duos and am not usually a fan! An added bonus was discussing the music with friends afterwards which provided a community of music. Congratulations! S.P – audience member
Review of concert on Saturday 8th June 8pm – On an Overgrown Path “An overwhelming performance” http://capricciomusic.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/janaceks-barn-owl-has-not-flown-away-at.html
The last few days have been an unforgettable musical experience…Not only were all the performances we heard outstanding but the obvious community feeling between the artists added to the atmosphere. The programming was also very imaginative offering the traditional alongside the more challenging…It has contributed enormously already to the cultural life of the town – congratulations! And some wonderful comments on twitter…
On ‘The Celan Quartet’ – some of the best quartet playing I’ve ever heard in any concert anywhere. In fact every concert at The Lewes Chamber Music Festival has been unbelievably spectacular! (@cmbdis)
Completely blown away by the extraordinary Celan Quartet – masterly Haydn and Berg at The Lewes Chamber Music Festival; a week before their A-levels (@postertom)
Simply astounding chamber music at Lewes Festival this evening. Playing like this makes me wonder if I should sack in my opera obsession! (@capriccioblog)
