Welcome to our fourth Festival! This opening concert brings together many strands you will notice running throughout this year's programme. The first of course being Haydn. His piano trios are unfathomably under-performed, which is why we will have one each day in Lewes. In fact, almost all of our concerts are a demonstration of how Haydn set the bar extremely high for all subsequent composers of chamber music, and how comfortably he sits in the company of Beethoven, Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Schoenberg, and even the composers of today.
