6. Coffee Concert (£12)
- All Saints Centre Friar's Walk, Lewes, East Sussex Bn7 2LE United Kingdom (map)
Although it was not until his opus 20 set of quartets that the cello fully emerged as an equal and often primary voice rather than simply providing the bass line; even in his op.9s Haydn was demonstrating the ability to write music saturated in rhetoric and deeply complex and human feelings. In this morning's concert he is paired with Benjamin Britten, and his extraordinary Second Cello Suite. Turn up from 10:30 for your cup of coffee!
